Mourvedre is an enigmatic variety. In the old world, there is only one small appellation that makes Mourvedre on its own - Bandol. Meloney and I spent a very happy time there in our youth, and I came to appreciate this rare grape. Our version is shy, restrained, with hints of herbs and earth. However, in the glass, it opens up and is compelling in its complexity and interest factor. We make only a small amount of this wine, and not every year.
